15 Weeks!

15 Weeks Photo

Yay! 15 weeks!!! Here is what is going on this week adccording to Baby Center:

Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She’s busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she’s likely to move away from the beam. There’s not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby’s a boy or a girl! (Don’t be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby’s sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby’s position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to “hide the goods.”)

You’ve probably gained about 5 pounds by now (a little more or less is fine, too) and are well into the swing of your pregnancy, but you may still be surprised by an unexpected symptom now and then. If your nose is stuffed up, for instance, you can probably chalk it up to the combined effect of hormonal changes and increased blood flow to your mucous membranes. This condition is so common, there’s even a name for it: “rhinitis of pregnancy.” Some pregnant women also suffer nosebleeds as a result of increased blood volume and blood vessel expansion in the nose.

Don’t be surprised if you and your partner are feeling a little stressed out these days. Many pregnant couples worry about their baby’s health and how they’ll handle the changes ahead. But with physical discomforts on the wane and energy on the rise, this is also a wonderful trimester for most women.

How far along?  15 weeks
Total weight gain:  3 lbs
Maternity clothes? I have a couple maternity tops that I love to wear because it really shows off the tiny bump, but overall I am still wearing normal clothes. With Spring upon us and temeratures between 80-90 this week, I have been sporting lots of skirts and sun dresses. I’m pretty sure this will be my wardrobe throughout the entire pregnancy. Especially since it can get up to 110 degrees here in the summer. Yikes! Not looking forward to that while I am 8 months pregnant!
Stretch marks?  No.
Sleep:  Sleeping really great at night, although I have to get up about 1-2x a night to use the restroom. Luckily I’ve been able to fall back asleep pretty quickly after these middle of the night potty breaks.
Best moment this week: I felt baby girl move yesterday!!! It was so crazy, I started feeling a light flutter below my belly button yesterday morning while I was at work. It felt like butterflies flipping around in my tummy. It was the coolest feeling ever! I kept thinking how weird it was that I couldn’t feel it the day before, but then all of a sudden, there it was. And the best part…it wasn’t just once. Nope, I felt it all day long. To the point that I wondered if baby girl ever really slept in there. Not sure if it was the position she was in yesterday, or if she just finally grew to just the right size where I could feel her, but either way, it was one of my favorite moments of this pregnancy so far! And today, I’ve already felt those same flutters a couple of times, so it wasn’t just a fluke! Yay!!!
Miss Anything? Not a thing!
Movement:  Yes!!! Just yeasterday for the first time at 14 wks 6 days.
Food cravings:  Apples with Peanut Butter. My favorite snack right now.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  No.
Gender prediction: Girl!!! As long as the ultrasound tech was right…we just found out a few days ago that we are having a baby girl!
Labor Signs:  Nope.
Symptoms: Nothing this week! I have felt great!!!
Belly Button in or out?  In.
Wedding rings on or off?  On.
Happy or Moody most of the time: So totally happy!
Looking forward to: Every single day from here on out! Oh, and decorating a baby girl nursery!!!
